Yes, he owns the Waterloo location on Ira Needles.
I worked for him years ago when I was a high school student; he is outright abusive in his bullying of staff. If produce fell onto the dirty back room floor, he’d instruct us to pick it up and sell it to customers. Those crazy cheap prices? Yeah – they’re that cheap for a reason.
When I handed in my two weeks notice, he said that I should “become homeless before ever wasting another employer’s time” (I switched jobs to Food Basics – the managers there were actually humane). He readily hires young people and immigrants with little conception of how his treatment is borderline criminal.
Mike Renkema’s behaviour is absolutely disgusting and appalling. I truly hope he gets the justice that has been waiting for him all these years.

I feel sorry for all the people who had worked for this guy and never got paid…
Me myself work at a grocery store and the people on the management team are 10 times kinder than Mike is! I don’t usually work in the produce department, but if any produce fell on the backroom floor, they wouldn’t sell it, they’d throw it out!
